I've added a new generic boosted MSX2+ machine, actually inspired by the GR8BIT educational project :
http://www.ccas.ru/brychkov/gr8bit/
If you compare with the generic MSX2+ machine, you will notice the following differences :
- 1024 kb RAM (in stead of 512)
- Sunrise IDE rom is added in slot 2-1
- in slot 3-1, MSXKANJI.ROM is replaced by GR8BITLANG.ROM, created by Eugeny Brychkov
When you boot the machine, you can choose the keyboard type by pressing CTRL+GRAPH (LeftAlt in blueMSX)+a number between 1 and 6
1 = Japanese keyboard
2 = International English keyboard
3 = Russian keyboard
4 = French keyboard
5 = German keyboard
6 = Spanish keyboard
As the PC keyboards have some limitations, some of these key combinations can fail, but you have a "second chance" under MSX-BASIC :
type LANG followed by a number between 0 and 5
0 = Japanese keyboard
1 = International English keyboard
2 = Russian keyboard
3 = French keyboard
4 = German keyboard
5 = Spanish keyboard
In all cases, the CODE/KANA key (rightAlt in blueMSX) acts like a toggle between normal characters and kana or accented characters. _________________ Benoît

Many new machines (+ correction for the Canon V-10/V-20 machines) !
- Canon V-10 (MSX1) : it seems to be only a Japanese machine with Japanese keyboard, so we have corrected that
- Canon V-20 (MSX1) : Japanese version + different European versions,
so you can now choose between 5 versions :
* V-20 = Japanese
* V-20E = English
* V-20F = French
* V-20G = German
* V-20S = Spanish
- Canon V-25 (MSX2)
- Canon V-30 (MSX2)
- Canon V-30F (MSX2)
- Casio PV-7 (MSX1) :
This machine has only 8 kb RAM and 1 cartridge slot; for your comfort, we have added the 2nd cartridge slot.
This machine does not have a cassette port, but that's something we can't remove in blueMSX.
Also the addition of the KB-7 expansion can't be emulated : it adds 8 kb RAM and 2 cartridge slots. We have noticed that the classical RAM extensions require at least 16 kb internal RAM to be detected, so the KB-7 module is really special !
- Casio PV-16 (MSX1)
- Fujitsu FM-X (MSX1)
Another strange MSX1 machine : only 16 KB RAM, but the RAM can be extended by using a communication system with FM-7, a non-MSX machine, that can use the better graphical MSX1 features .... This very special communication system can't be emulated by blueMSX
Thanks to French MSX fan Fabf for the dump of the Casio PV-7 and to Brazilian MSX fan Ricardo Taconi for the dump of the Fujitsu FM-X ! _________________ Benoît

Thanks very much update many of BIOS sets.
I have a question.
Does FM-X include External Slot 3?
Is it really true?
FM-X is early MSX1 with 16KB machine.
I think there is no reason to exist external slot 3.
You had better run the following on the real machine.
PRINT PEEK (&HFCC4) -- Status of Slot 3 (0 -- Non Extented / 128 -- Extended) |

I've got the following answer from Brazil :
| Quote: | Then input it has a cartridge for MSX cartridges, and another to connect to another computer only.
When I entered the command "PRINT PEEK (& HFCC4)" the computer returned "0".
|
So, there is only one cartridge slot.
We know also that slot 3 is not extended.
I've updated the machine concerning slot 3. However, for the comfort of the end-user, there are 2 cartridge slots instead of only one in the blueMSX configuration of Fujitsu FM-X. _________________ Benoît

Thanks to Jemo1982, we have a new Arabic MSX1 machine : Expert 1, based on Daewoo DPC-200.
This machine comes with a special Arabic rom containing Arabic characters and some programs. Contrary to the Al Alamiah machines, there's apparently no any European 'pure' mode.
Options on the menu :
1 - MSX-BASIC
2 - English Writing
3 - Arabic Writing
4 - PSG Musics
5 - Electric Painting
6 - Unit Convertor
If you press on Select (End in blueMSX) on the screen before the menu, you'll see this text :
This Arabization was entirely
developed by Tarek Fateen
Cairo – 665882, and is NOT
violating –ANY– Copyright
Alalamiah’s or ANY other.
Thanks to Google, I've found the name of Tarek Fateen in the annex to this UNESCO document of 1981 :
http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0004/000452/045242eo.pdf
Excerpt :
Mr. Tarek Fateen Software Manager, -TEA Computers, Cairo

Thanks to a Spanish fan, Rubén Arraya and thanks to version 1.1 of GETROM that fixes the 'save on tape' bug, we have finally the good roms for the Sony HB-101P (MSX1).

- Mitsubishi ML-F48 (MSX1) with 32 KB RAM
- Mitsubishi ML-F110 (MSX1) with 16 KB RAM
- Mitsubishi ML-F120 (MSX1) with 32 KB RAM
The corrections :
- Fujitsu FM-X (MSX1) : no printer port
- Philips NMS-8250J (MSX2) : only 64 KB RAM in this Japanese prototype in stead of 128 KB RAM in the corresponding European machines _________________ Benoît

Again one new machine and one correction :
- the correction : no stereo PSG in Pioneer PX-V60 (MSX1) ; only the laser disc part, not yet supported, is stereo
- the new machine : Mitsubishi ML-G1 (MSX2)
Thanks to a Spanish fan, Rubén Arraya, we have the configuration of this machine, probably released with different keyboards (we have here the Spanish keyboard).
This machine comes with a build-in graphic software, that can be skipped by pressing the DEL key when booting.
Remark : Maybe this software was also released as apart cartridge : I've noticed that you can insert the rom in a cartridge slot of other MSX2 (and higher) machines. _________________ Benoît

Time for 7 new machines !!!
- Mitsubishi ML-G3 (MSX2 - Spanish keyboard)
This machine comes with build-in RS232C (enabled/disabled by a switch that is not emulated) - Thanks to Rubén Arraya !
There is also a system disk with a graphical tool, but it is not yet dumped :
http://www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/863
- Mitsubishi ML-G10 (MSX2 - Japanese keyboard)
- Sanyo Wavy PHC-55FD2 (MSX2 - Japanese keyboard)
- Sanyo Wavy PHC-77 (MSX2 - Japanese keyboard)
It comes with build-in MSX-Write (Japanese wordprocessor), but as this ASCII rom has a mapper not supported by blueMSX, I've used a wrong mapper type to bypass the problem ...
If you want to see MSX-Write in action, insert it in a slot of a Japanese machine with the emulator RuMSX ...
- Sony HB-10 (MSX1 - Japanese keyboard)
This machine has only 16 KB RAM - Thanks to Rubén Arraya !
- Sony HB-F700 (MSX2 - Japanese keyboard)
- Sony HB-F750+ (MSX2 - Japanese keyboard)
It's actually based on a prototype with a CD-ROM player !
Like for the Philips NMS-8260+, I've included the Sunrise harddisk+DOS2 and
an almost empty harddisk image of 20 Mo !

Attention ! I've noticed a problem that happens when you have many subdirectories in the Machines directory of blueMSX.
If the number of subdirectories is higher than 255, a white line appears in the dropdown menu in Options/Emulation and in the Machine Editor.
If the number of subdirectories is higher than 256, the emulator becomes unstable and must be 'killed' by using the Windows Task Manager.
Temporary solution if you are collecting all the Machines : install blueMSX in 2 different directories and divide in 2 parts the Machines directory (for example : the generic machines + some preferred specific machines for 1st blueMSX, the other specific machines for 2nd blueMSX). _________________ Benoît

Again 8 new machines !!!
- Philips NMS-8250F (MSX2 - French keyboard)
- Philips NMS-8255F (MSX2 - French keyboard)
- Philips NMS-8280F (MSX2 - French keyboard ; extra features - superimposing and digitizing are supported)
- Sony HB-501 (MSX1 - Japanese keyboard)
- Sony HB-701FD (MSX1 - Japanese keyboard)
It's a HB-501 with one 360 Kb drive and superimposing (feature not supported)
- Victor HC-90, Victor HC-95 and Victor HC-95A
These three MSX2 computers have a Japanese keyboard and their extra features are not supported : switch to use the HD64B180(6.14MHz) Turbo Mode, RS232 and superimposing.
The disk drive is also not really supported, I use the fMSX drive patch to make it work.
HC-90 has only 1 drive; HC-95 and HC-95A have 2 drives
HC-90 and HC-95 have only 64 KB RAM.
HC-95A has 256 KB RAM and the MSX2+ VDP (but not the BASIC 3.0)
All these machines have only 1 slot cartridge, but for your comfort, you have 2 cartridge slots with blueMSX.
Other infos about these machines (not useful at the moment) :
Pressing the BS key at startup enables the RS232 software
Pressing the DEL key at startup disables the CTRL+function key or CTRL+SHIFT+function key functionality
Pressing the ESC key at startup gives the System Control menu.
Turbo mode can be incompatible with some games/applications and lead to a soft reset and a screen inviting to use the normal mode.
Check this page : http://usbsecretbase.michikusa.jp/hc-95/index.html
Superimposing can be controlled directly with the functionkeys (without using basic statements):
CTRL+F1 = display superimpose, audio is mixed
CTRL+F2 = display television, audio is mixed
CTRL+F3 = display computer, audio is NOT mixed
CTRL+F4 = display superimpose, color 0 is not transparant, audio is mixed
CTRL+F5 = display superimpose, half brightness, audio is mixed
CTRL+SHIFT+F1 = select RGB video input
CTRL+SHIFT+F2 = select BNC video input _________________ Benoît

Ready for another wave of new machines ? This time, we have also some corrections !
* The corrections :
- Toshiba HX-10 has been renamed as HX-10P
- Toshiba HX-10S has a Spanish keyboard (and not an English keyboard)
- Talent TPC-310 does not have a Matsushita SRAM, the problem with the cursor in the accessories software menu when using the first time comes from a bug in this software !
* The new machines :
- Toshiba HX-10F (MSX1 - French keyboard)
- Fenner DPC-200, FPC-500 and SPC-800 (MSX1 - English keyboard - based on Daewoo/Samsung MSX1)
- Fenner FPC-900 (MSX2 - English keyboard - based on Philips NMS-8250)
Fenner machines are Italian clones and don't believe their strange presentation concerning RAM/VRAM for the MSX2 machine ! 256 KB = RAM + VRAM (128 each); 256 KB VRAM is impossible. _________________ Benoît

2 new machines and 1 correction
- the new machines :
Al Alamiah AX-150 (MSX1) : very similar to AX-170, but with only 32 KB RAM (info found on an Arabic website) instead of 64 KB RAM (or crazy 128 KB RAM as some bad sources indicate it)
Kawai KMC-5000 (MSX2) : very similar to Panasonic FS-A1F, but by lack of infos on this rare computer, we can guess that the specific Panasonic firmware is not included, so I've built a clone without this firmware !
- the correction :
Al Alamiah AX-350 (MSX2) is renamed as Al Alamiah AX-350II, because there is also a first version called AX-350I, that seems to be a too fast build MSX2 without the new SWP firmware (wordprocessor) as the menu is as following :
Options 1 and 2 seem to come from MSX1 AX-150/170 !
Compare with AX-350II :
You can also compare with AX-500 menu :
If you have the AX-350I and the AX-500, please contact us to get tools and instructions and start dumping the roms of these machines ! _________________ Benoît
