I have a suggestion about Rom Type Option Menu on Insert Cartridge Menu.

Anyone may select ROM cartridge file to play ROM type game with insert Cart menu.

But after insert ROM cartridge, any ROM type can't be recognized without DB file registered.
It can't be run on too.

For example, Cross Blaim has special mapper.
BlueMSX recognize Cross Blaim's mapper type with DB file registered.
So Cross Blaim runs on blueMSX without serious problem.

But for example, Penguin Mind (Released in 16-12-07) can't be recognized without DB file registered.

Of course, if user add the following information for Penguin Mind in
DB file, Penguin Mind works on blueMSX.

Name : Penguin Mind
File Size : 64KB
Rom Type : ASCII 8KB Mapper
CRC32:d2de6ec4
SHA1:8c218c317e1e213e1c5e9439870929009d645a47

But Penguin Mind must be run without DB too.

The good idea is that you had better add the following feature on blueMSX.

1)Add the menu of selectable Rom Type on insert Cart.
2)The Game&Rom type information is shown with DB file registered.

For example, if anyone insert Arkanoid (MSX2) MegaROM,
the Game's Rom Mapper is ASCII 8KB.
Of course, default select menu must be shown as ASCII 8KB on this game.
But with selectable menu, Arkanoid ROM can be run with another Mapper type with work or not.

P.S. Pengun Mind was made with BASIC-KUN.
This include Disk BASIC ROM routine.
So it needs 64KB RAM of MSX.

This option already exists. When you use "Insert" in the cartridge menu, blueMSX uses the Windows explorer and opens a window dialog "Insert ROM cartridge into slot 1" or ""Insert ROM cartridge into slot 2" and the last line of this dialog is "Rom Type".

When you select the ROM, the "Rom Type" line becomes available and you can select the mapper of your choice. Many users are too fast and don't see this option, or maybe are too confident in the autodetection. Another explanation is the fact that many users use a fast way to insert the ROM in the emulator (such as drag and drop) and in this case, the "Rom Type" option is not available.

Oops, Sorry. Sad

I didn't find this option.

Yes, Rom type select menu exist.

It is not shown easily if anyone select rom type quickly to run fast. Smile

I guess new titles will be added to the database in time. The database is regularly updated once new titles are released. Right now Penguin Mind was released after both openMSX and blueMSX (which use a common software database), so after a some time the updated database will be available for download here.
