I was playing SCC+ Knightmare yesterday and I was a bit annoyed by the flicking sprites on the upper part of the screen. That's something that can be removed by launching the game in R800 mode (less time spent for music at the beginning of drawing).

I'm doing the R800 switch in BASIC for now, but I was wondering if there's a key combo to boot directly in R800 mode on game cardridges?

Also, I've noticed that the bug on Knightmare's Stage 2 boss was caused by a bad dump ROM (the Knightmare[a2] and Knightmare[SCC+] versions are OK !).

You can try the LogiPatcher machines created by KdL :

http://www.bluemsx.com/rel_download/LogiPATCHER.zip

Unzip the file in the Machines subdirectory of blueMSX, it will add some new machines and the patched roms will be placed in Machines/Shared Roms.

It's a collection of special ROMs collection to force MSXtR CPU status and MSX2/2+/tR video frequency at ROM startup.

on BASIC ROM: only the video frequency has effect

Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake has the support for R800:
press SHIFT at the system boot to speedup.

No effect with a few games

Let's hope it will work with Knightmare SCC Wink

That works like a charm ! No sprites flickering & SCC+ music with my favourite shmup, that's great ! Thanks a lot Benoit !
A side effect is that there's no more slowdowns when you have lots of sprite on the screen Confused, which makes this hard game even harder !
