The MSX2+ version of Mid-Garts supposes to have hardware horizontal scroll.
Also the openning has some extra scene that scrolls big red text of Mid-Garts inbetween scences
But the Tosec verified Mid-Garts DS(msx2+) that I have tested does not support hardware horizontal scroll, nor have it the extra opening scene w/ the big red text of Mid-Garts.
The Machine setting I used was Panasonic FS-A1WSX(MSX2+)
I saw a movie of MSX2+'s Mid-Garts and it does have a very smooth scrolling.

This movie shows the MSX2+'s hardware scrolling abilities, and it has Mid-Garts in it(from 1min 26sec and on)
If you try the tosec version of Mid-Garts DS in blueMSX, you will the difference definitly. |

At first sight, if the TOSEC disk is the good dump for MSX2+/TURbo-R (what should be checked on a real machine), it could be a problem of detection of the VDP and/or interlacing on screen 6 (this last point concerns the intro of the game). _________________ Benoît

I have manage to find the disk image that does support h-scroll. These image also has the Big red text of "Midgarts" during the opening scene.
I'll put the links to the image that I have found as well as the Tosec Set.
You can compare these two images and perhaps figure out what is going on for me.

(There are some graphical glitchs in the openings of the image that I have found. I don't know whether the problem belongs to blueMSX or to the disk image itself. Since you can debug, maybe able to find out better that me ) |

Thanks for your quest to the good MSX2+ files !
There are some errors in the Tosec collection and it is one of these errors : the Tosec MSX2+ package is actually a variant of the Tosec MSX2 package for this (double) game. I had checked the sha1 values of the disks, some values were the same, some were different. More strange was the fact that the boot sectors were the same especially on disk 1.
The real MSX2+ intro is impressive, I think it pushes the MSX2+ to some limits, what can explain the "glitches". You can improve the visual result by de-selecting "De-interlace" and by selecting "Blend consecutive frames" in the Options/Video menu ! _________________ Benoît

The set that I have found is pre-saved that you can't really start from the beginning, unless you use some trick like killing the character intentionally and restart w/ pressing a certain key(space?).
Some key will make you continue from where you saved. So be careful. |
