Hello guys.
For the longest time I had BlueMSX 2.6 and a few days ago I decided to download the newest version.
I installed the emulator where the old one was and now it won't save the history, controller configurations or window size.
I deleted the .inis and the Keyboard Config folder and the same thing still happened. I uninstalled it and installed it in a different directory and it still won't save the history or configurations.
Oh, and when I exit the emulator, a process stays active in the Windows Task Manager (Win XP). If I open and exit the emu several times, several processes stay active too. I have to manually remove them.
Do I need to edit the registry to delete something from the old version and be able to make the new version save its configuration and fix those task manager bugs? |

I'm surprised that you precise you are under XP.
It's a "problem" that comes generally only under Vista and Windows 7 (I have since a few days Windows 7, so I can finally check that).
The solution is simple : when you are in the blueMSX directory, click on "Compatibility files", the .ini files and different folders are there !
You can eventually copy and paste the concerned files and folders in the directory where blueMSX is installed, but you need Admin rights to do that and I don't think it's a good solution as every time you use the emulator, new versions of the concerned files/folders will be saved in "Compatibility files".
If you are really under XP and don't see the "Compatibility files", then I think you need to do a complete re-installation :
- uninstall blueMSX
- delete manually the remaining files/folders in the blueMSX directory
- start the Register Editor to find all the blueMSX keys
- delete every blueMSX key (be careful !)
- install blueMSX _________________ Benoît

Oh god...
I don't see the "compatibility files" no. Is it a folder?
Why is this even happening? Because I installed where an old version of the emu was? |

Probably because there are too many differences between versions 2.6 and 2.8.2. Golden rule is always first uninstall completely the old version (but generally, it is not necessary to edit the register).
"Compatibility files" is an option under Vista/7 that gives access to an "hidden" folder. _________________ Benoît

Is there something I could download that would automatically delete all the bluemsx registry keys?
I did what you described and I'm still having the same problem. |

Just tried the process in that link and still nothing.
I deleted everything. Registry and all.
I did find notice one thing. If I start the emu, make the changes I want and then change the video mode and close the emu. The emulator saves my changes! But only if I change the video mode.
I'm also installing the emulator on drive D. I don't know if that could create problems. |

That's very strange.
By video mode, what do you mean ? One of the settings in Options/Video or the Windows color mode ?
In the last case : maybe you are running Windows in 24bit color mode. This mode is not supported by blueMSX. Try 16bit or 32bit color mode. _________________ Benoît

Sorry, by video mode I meant the Monitor Emulation. I am using 32bit color mode.
I guess I'll just keep using it like this until I format my computer sometimes this year.
Thanks for all the help though |
