Q: How to setup MSX-AUDIO? So the comaptible roms would work with MSX-AUDIO sound.
First of you need to prepare yourself with a correct rom in order to get MSX-AUDIO working on blueMSX.
Panasonic came up with this hardware back in 80's called FS-CA1 which is often referred to MSX-AUDIO. FS-CA1 also came with a extend basic called Audio Basic. Anyway some software would check if the basic was present and which also made MSX-AUDIO to be available for proper detection. (Like the COMPILE'S diskstation.)
So you need a FS-CA1 rom (not compatible roms) in order to have them working with blueMSX. Here are MSX-AUDIO rom CRC tested with our emulator.

81C5BDD9 - This MSX-AUDIO rom requires the mapper type set manually to MSX-AUDIO within file requester.
Other important note is to DISABLE the Audio Switch when playing MSX-AUDIO compatible games. Audio Switch is there to toggle FS-CA1 internal software
program and it prevents from games detecting MSX-AUDIO properly.
* For the last information we recommend mounting FS-CA1 rom to slot 1. This is because the actuall cartridge was designed to fit in slot1 and physically near impossible to fit in other slot. (Unless slot 2 was located on the same plane as slot 1 or use slot expander.) Our theory is that some game checked for slot1 if FS-CA1 existed or not and would detect if it was in slot other than 1. (Game like Xevious require FS-CA1 to be inserted on slot1.) _________________ -- blueMSX forum administrator -- |
